LINO CUT CHRISTMAS CARD WORKSHOP

TWO WORKSHOP DATES

• Sat 5 Dec from 11am-1.30pm
• Tues 8 from 6pm -8.30pm

Cost: £ 60.00 to include cards, envelopes and refreshments

MAXIMUM OF 8 PARTICIPANTS

A festive workshop in which you’ll design and print a set of linocut Christmas cards from your own hand-carved lino block.  This workshop is suitable for both absolute beginners and those with previous printmaking experience.

Your tutor, Cecilia Mackay, is a member of Leicester Print Workshop, whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK. She combines award-winning printmaking skills with over 30 years working in book illustration.  On this small group workshop you’ll learn how to:

·       Exploit the properties of lino to plan an impactful card design

·       Techniques for transferring your image to the block, carving and inking up

·       Register (line up) your block so it prints perfectly on the card

·       Experiment with colour combinations and different papers

All tools and materials will be provided including the card stock and envelopes for your final finished Christmas cards.

Bring along reference images or sketches to help inspire your design. But don’t worry if your drawing skills are rusty, Cecilia will have some of her own templates you can use as a springboard. Mince pies and fizz will be on hand to further fuel the creative Christmas muse!

Please bring an apron, clothes you don’t mind getting a bit inky, and a shoebox or similar-sized, deep container to carry your cards home in (as they will take a couple of days to fully dry).

Please note, because we are working with sharp tools, this course is not suitable for under-16s.
