Follow on Linocut Printing: 2 Week Course | Saturday 21st and 28th November

Two Saturdays 21 & 28 November  11am – 2pm

 

(MAXIMUM 6 PARTICIPANTS PER WORKSHOP)

 

A short course, taught over two consecutive weeks, offering a deeper dive into the technique of linocut printmaking. These sessions are suitable for those who have attended Cecilia Mackay’s ‘Learn to Lino’ beginners workshop, or for those with some previous experience who are ready to take their linocut skills to the next level.

In a small group of 6, with lots of support and advice from Cecilia, you will be devising, cutting and inking your own hand-carved lino blocks. Printing both by hand and with a printing press, you will leave the workshop with a unique set of hand-printed artworks. 

Cecilia is a member of Leicester Print Workshop, whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK. She combines award-winning printmaking skills with over 30 years working in book illustration.  This duo of workshops will show you in detail:

·       How to transform your ideas and sketches into impactful lino prints

·       Experiment with colours, reduction and multi-block printing

·       Failsafe techniques for lining up (registering) multiple layers when printing

·       How to print with a Woodzilla tabletop printing press 

All tools and materials will be provided including fine art paper for your final finished pieces.  There will be tea, coffee and cake to fuel the creative muse!

Bring along your own sketches or reference images to develop your own project - or Cecilia will have templates and stencils you can use as a springboard.  Designs should be A5 or A4 size and can be landscape or portrait orientation. Please bring an apron, clothes you don’t mind getting a bit inky, and a shoebox to carry your prints home in. 

Please note, because we are working with sharp tools, this course is not suitable for under-16s.
