Low-Relief Terracotta Tile Carving Masterclass

About this experience

Where: Stoneleigh Arms Arts Space, Leamington Spa

Duration: 3 Hours

Skill Level: Beginners to Intermediate

Discover the tactile art of tile carving alongside Great Pottery Throwdown 2024 finalist Dave Short. This 3-hour masterclass guides you through the process of carving and decorating beautiful low-relief terracotta tiles.

The Workshop Experience:

  • Expert Demo: Watch Dave demonstrate relief carving, texturing, and slip decoration techniques.

  • Hands-on Making: Carve your own designs into leather-hard terracotta, creating depth and adding colour.

  • Full Firing Service: Create up to 3 tiles. We will dry, bisque-fire, treat with metal oxides, clear-glaze, and gloss-fire your work so it is ready to display.

Please bring a simple design idea or sketch to the session. All materials and tools are provided.

Spaces are limited to ensure plenty of 1-on-1 time with Dave, but a minimum of 6 spaces must be filled for the event to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, you will be notified well in advance and offered a full refund or a transfer to a future date.
