Follow-on Printmaking Course (2 x 2.5hrs)About this experience
This single booking is for a two part course taking place on the 13th August at 6pm to 8.30pm and 20th August 6pm to 8.30pm.
A follow-on course taught over two separate sessions. This course is suitable for those starting out on their printmaking journey who have attended Cecilia Mackay’s ‘Learn to Lino’ course, or for those with some existing experience of linocut printmaking wanting to explore the possibilities of relief printmaking more deeply.
On this fun and absorbing workshop, taking place over two half-days, with demonstrations and guidance from your host, Cecilia Mackay, you will be devising, cutting and inking your own hand-carved lino blocks and printing using a tabletop printing press.
Cecilia is a member of Leicester Print Workshop, whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK. She combines award-winning printmaking skills with over 30 years working in book illustration. This small group workshop will show you:
· How to translate your ideas and sketches into impactful prints
· How to break your design down into separate layers of colour
· Experimenting with reduction and multi-block printing
· How to line up (register) your layers when printing using a press
· Working on different types of paper and printing on a larger scale
All tools and materials will be provided including fine art paper for your final finished pieces.
Please bring an apron, clothes you don’t mind getting a bit inky, and a shoebox-sized container to carry your prints home in. Although Cecilia will offer some templates to follow, please feel free to bring along any reference images you might like to work from as a springboard to producing a small edition of A5 prints to impress your friends and family! Only 6 places available to ensure tailored advice and guidance.
Please note, because we are working with sharp tools, this course is not suitable for under-16s.
