Exhibition Call: Beneath the Surface

Beneath the Surface invites artists to explore what lies underneath; materially, emotionally, psychologically, or socially. This exhibition is concerned with depth rather than appearance, asking what is concealed, overlooked, or slowly revealed over time.
We welcome work that responds to ideas of layering, excavation, memory, tension, and the unseen. This might include hidden narratives, internal landscapes, suppressed histories, environmental strata, or works that suggest more than they immediately show. Artists may explore surface as a threshold; something that both reveals and obscures.
Submissions may consider erosion, concealment, fragmentation, reflection, or accumulation; the quiet presence of what sits beneath; or the slow unveiling of meaning through material, process, or time.
Open to emerging & established artists, working in any medium.

Exhibiting With Us
We love showcasing creative work from artists of all backgrounds and disciplines. Whether you’re a painter, sculptor, filmmaker, or mixed-media maker, exhibiting with us is a great way to share your work with an engaged and supportive audience.
Who Can Exhibit
Anyone can exhibit with us, whether complete beginner or total pro. We accept work in any medium, including video, as long as it’s original. We don’t accept prints in our exhibitions. However, if your piece is digitally produced, it may be exhibited as a print, provided it’s not also available for sale in our shop.
Hanging Fees & Membership
Artists on the Artist Membership tier or above exhibit free of charge and don’t pay a hanging fee.
Non-members are very welcome to exhibit too. There’s just a £10 hanging fee, which helps cover the cost of the exhibition.
Sales & Commission
When a piece sells, you’re free to replace it with another work of a similar size to keep your display fresh.
- Members: 20% commission
- Non-members: 25% commission
All payments for sold work are made via bank transfer at the end of the exhibition.
You do not have to sell your work, but we may limit works that are not for sale if we have too many.
