Julie Swinsco
Julie Swinsco is a talented painter, printmaker, and photographer. She was originally from the northeast of England and now lives in Warwickshire. A graduate of Central, Saint Martins, Julie’s work explores movement and energy across diverse media. Her work invites viewers to explore dynamic, and often urban landscapes, capturing their essence through light and motion.
Julie states; ‘I am captivated by the play of light, be it dazzling on water or squeezed between the buildings and reflected off glass within an urban environment. Depicting movement is also very important for me, so the image does not feel static, it has an internal energy and provides intrigue and excitement to the viewer.’
She will be exhibiting several paintings including Leamington’s railway bridge, (see photo) which fascinates her. ‘Within this painting of Leamington Intersection, my passion lies in portraying the dynamism, movement and the energy of Leamington Spa, especially the rush hour at dusk, amidst rain, under the iconic railway bridge. I begin by capturing the intricate dance of traffic through high-quality, slow shutter photography. I then respond to my photos, to create semi-abstracted paintings, enhancing the atmosphere of the intersection of traffic, framed by the underbelly of the brutalist bridge construction. ‘
